Job Description:

Directs and participates in the organization's financial planning and oversees all accounting and finance functions while directing and participating in activities based on the overall strategic objectives of the Company. Will manage all relationships with lending institutions, shareholders, investors,

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Budgeting, audit, tax, accounting, information systems, real estate activities for the organization and its subsidiaries.
  • Directs the Accounting Department procedures and systems necessary to maintain proper records and to afford adequate accounting controls and services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages subordinate employees of Accounting Department. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

The Sales & Marketing Team

The Role

The Outside Sales Representative – Specialty Crops will play an important role in helping to acquire new customers, generating revenue, and delivering on the brand promise of the company. Our specialty crops portfolio consists of apple, cherry, pear, grapes, hops, berries, and nut crops. Our soil amendments are scientifically proven of formulations of biochar.

Responsibilities

  • Aggressively pursue new customers for plant orders, soil amendments, and the molecular plant diagnostic services segment of the specialty crop agricultural market

About this role: The VP of Cultivation & Operations will have the overarching responsibility will be to oversee the planning and execution of plant production from micropropagation (tissue culture) to controlled environment production to greenhouse production to customer delivery, including the highest level of quality control to produce true-to-type and disease-free plant materials.

Assume primary responsibility for developing plant production leaders, mentoring them to provide timely reporting and developing plant production schedules. Assume responsibility for the identification, testing, development, and integration of new technologies and process improvements into the production environment.

Contribute to the long-term vision for physical facilities and work processes that ensure future capabilities align with our growth aspirations. Develop and manage spending and budgets, including identifying and providing justification for all desired capital items.


The VP of Cultivation and Operations will report to the Chief Science Officer. This role will also be expected to have strong working relationships with the CEO, VP of Sales, and VP of Biomass Processing.


The VP of Cultivation and Operations will be responsible for ongoing analysis of the operations and develop action plans to identify production and cost efficiencies. Other responsibilities include helping develop cultivation budgets with the CEO and CSO; reporting on cultivation budget - actual

vs. projected budget; forecasting production schedules and yields; overseeing recruiting and hiring to ensure the operations are staffed as per the budgets; effectively managing the operations at multiple production and greenhouse facilities while always ensuring consistency and regulatory

compliance; ensuring the individual skills of the team are utilized efficiently; implement operational processes and maximizing successful production of plant materials.

What you'll do:

  • Maintain a constant, in-person support and leadership across multiple facilities
  • Work closely with the executive team to develop goals for in-demand cultivars and its propagation and cultivation
  • Lead the design and implementation of new, innovative solutions to streamline production processes and improve plant quality
  • Collaborate with production managers, scientists and technicians to identify gaps in production processes and utilize scientific and planning expertise to provide suggestions that enhance knowledge flow across functional groups and sites
  • Oversee propagation and cultivation teams and associated genetic analysis to successfully manage four departments: Orchard, Hops, Grapes, and Berries
  • Responsible for updating and improving SOPs to continually gain efficiency in production and remain in compliance with changing regulations
  • Responsible for monitoring and controlling actual vs. budget performance every week, reacting to unfavorable events by providing solutions
  • Successfully oversee the implementation and design of data-capturing and reporting processes to accurately convey performance of cultivation operations to the executive team

  • Source and implement equipment and technology solutions to improve operational efficiency and data analysis

  • Experience in plant micropropagation (Tissue Culture) and greenhouse management and prior experience with people leadership is required
  • Project Management and excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, meet deadlines, pay rigorous attention to detail, and fully embrace safety and regulatory compliance guidelines is required
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to continually improve processes and implement change is essential
  • A knowledge of daily operations related to controlled environments including but not limited to, lighting, heating, cooling, humidification, irrigation, GH software operation, and Integrated Pest Management required.

Work is performed in a normal warehouse environment with exposure to outdoor temperatures. The employee's working conditions are moderately noisy. Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office and setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to speak and hear; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; to verbally communicate to exchange information. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
